Garment Care

At TRANBE, we work mainly with linen and silk – two beautiful, breathable fabrics that last longer when cared for gently.

Linen

Linen is naturally breathable, cool and slightly textured – it wrinkles easily, but that lived-in crease is part of its charm. It’s perfect for tropical weather, daily commutes and days when you want to feel dressed, but not restricted.

  • Stain Treatment: Treat stains quickly. Blot gently with cool water and mild soap, and avoid bleach, especially on coloured linen.
  • Washing: Turn inside out. Hand wash or use a gentle machine cycle at max 30°C with mild detergent. Wash with similar colours and don’t overload the machine.
  • Drying: Shake lightly to loosen wrinkles, then air dry on a hanger or flat in the shade. Avoid high heat tumble drying to prevent shrinkage.
  • Ironing or Steaming: Iron while slightly damp or lightly mist with water. Use medium to high heat with steam, or steam gently to relax wrinkles.
  • Storage: Hang on wide, sturdy hangers and ensure garments are fully dry before storing. For travel, rolling helps reduce deep creases.

Silk

Silk is smooth, delicate and softly reflective, like a thin layer of light on your skin. It drapes beautifully, feels cool to the touch and brings a quiet elegance to everyday dressing. Because it is more fragile than linen, it appreciates gentler care and a little extra patience.

  • Stain Treatment: Blot, don’t rub. Use a soft cloth with cool water and a tiny amount of gentle detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh stain removers. For tough stains, consider professional cleaning.
  • Washing: Hand wash in cool water with mild, pH-neutral detergent. Swirl gently, avoid wringing or twisting, and don’t soak for too long.
  • Drying: Press out excess water in a clean towel, then lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight. Avoid tumble drying.
  • Ironing or Steaming: Iron on the reverse side on low heat, using a pressing cloth if needed. Steaming at a small distance is a gentle way to smooth silk.
  • Storage: Hang on slim, non-slip hangers in a cool, dry wardrobe. For delicate or dark silk, use breathable garment bags to protect from dust and light.
